Alli : A Forestry Interface
How might we motivate the forestry machine users to take pride in their work while taking care of their health?
A live student project done with the forestry industry of Sweden during the 1st semester of MFA IXD, Umea Institute of Design. The aim was to improve the feedback interface of the forestry operator. Our solution, "Alli" is a digital platform that encourages a more nature and health sensitive working environment in the forest.

PROJECT CONCEPT VIDEO
The forestry operator faces as many as 16 decisions per minute. This compromises nature preservation and health in order to cater to the economy. Our hypothesis was to provide adequate decision support as well as positive feedback to help him do good by economy, nature and health.
In- depth contextual study to understand the workflow as well as the emotional and physical pain points while working.
Detailed analysis using workflows, pain-gain mapping and personas was done in order to understand the flow of information through out the system.
We ideated within workshops and iterated our concepts on-the-go.
GRAPHIC INTERFACE DESIGN
The individual part of the project for me was to design the Alli app for feedback and hand-over post work. Starting with a moodboard based on the northern lights, I went on to wire-framing, structuring the data and icon design.
The micro-interactions and the app mockup was prototyped on Principle.
DISPLAY AND PRESENTATION
In our display we had videos running in the background. An iPad-based working prototype was available for the audience to experience.
